Best Record Shops in Nashville
There is a reason they call Nashville Music City. It stands as one of the most historically significant towns in the world since it is the birth place of country music. The record shops reflect that still stand, RIP Ernest Tubb’s, are a testament to this towns love for a tangible piece of music. So where can we get our paws on some of that sweet tunage?! Here are my recommendations for the vinyl lover on the best record shops in Nashville.
Grimey’s
Inside an old church, this is the BEST record shop in town. Biggest selection and they often have shows in the old altar space in the back. Check them out here. There is also a fun vintage clothing shop called Anaconda Vintage in the back, a yoga studio (Hola Yoga) next door on one side, and a brewery on the other named Living Waters. Make a day out of just what is on this side street in East.
The Groove
The Groove feels like the old neighborhood record shop around the corner we all know from our hometowns. Your go to spot. I love that this East Nashville record shop had a huge selection and a fun selection of tapes as well.
Third Man Records
Ever heard of Jack White or the White Stripes?! If not we can’t be friends. Go learn something about how the pros press vinyl at Jack White’s Studio/Record Shop, Third Man Records. Just minutes from downtown, you can make a personal photograph disk inside their 1947 recording booth, take a tour, or pop in for a happy hour 5-7 in their Blue Bar. Check it out here!
Black Shag Vinyl
Vintage vinyl AND epic band tees?! Sign me up. Located in an old firehouse from the early 1900’s, this vintage shop is home to some of the most badass tunes and pieces of clothing. Almost is like a Nashville rock and roll museum. Check em out on the East side here.
Vinyl Tap
Ever wanted to drink a beer while you vinyl shop?! Your in luck. Vinyl Tab marries the beer scene and the hunt. Catch a buzz here.
McKay’s
This is the best place to find used LPs for a discount. You can also find books, movies and games as well! Check em out here!
The Green Ray
Located inside May Hosiery Mills Co-op in Wedgewood Houston is a new concept record stop called The Green Ray. Shop their curated selection of rare and used LPs. You can even sit and listen to your new record right in the window if you please. The vibes are on point. Then walk around and shop the other vendors!
If you are looking for other cool music shops to stop in at, make sure to check out Carter’s Vintage Guitars, Gibson Garage, and Fanny May’s House of Music. There is also select vinyl at our antique shops, my favorite being the East Nashville Antique Mall. There is always some one popping up too so make sure to follow my Go To Nashville page on Instagram for latest pop up info here! Example of one of the go to markets for vinyl is the Vintage and Vinyl Market at the Marketplace of East Nashville. Hope you score big at one of the best record shops in Nashville!
